Coaching is in my blood

I’ve led and coached many talented teams in my 40-year career working for technology companies and universities and have watched colleagues achieve goals they once could only imagine.

Inspired by their example and informed by my own leadership experience, I launched my executive and leadership coaching practice in 2014.

But then, in December 2021, I was diagnosed with a rare form of bone marrow cancer and underwent a stem cell transplant. The transplant was successful, and I’m now in remission.

Why it matters: My brush with cancer has reminded me that we grow when we push through — not step around — unexpected challenges life throws our way.

Resilience is as important for today’s leaders as it is for survivors of chronic disease. Organizational consultant Warren Bennis calls the most significant challenges leaders face “leadership crucibles” and argues that “the skills required to conquer adversity and emerge stronger and more committed than ever are the same ones that make for extraordinary leaders.”

“I appreciated the way that Eric balanced supporting me when I needed it, but also pushed me to do the hard work necessary to achieve my goals.” – Tim Hughes

The bottom line: My clients learn how to respond skillfully, with wisdom, compassion, and courage to whatever leadership crucible they’re facing at the moment. They emerge from our work together more confident and intentional about how they live their lives at home and at work.
